What they say:
Bringing Southern American flavours to London is Brixton's latest foodie offering in the form of Fancy Funkin Chicken, a 50-cover restaurant serving ethically sourced, free-range chicken. The restaurant is backed by some big names in the restaurant industry including Sketch's Rollo Weeks and Nathan Pattie, the co-founder of PIX. As well as food, there are DJ nights and cocktails made from ingredients at nearby Brixton Market.
What we say:
Fried chicken is having a bit of a moment, with a range of pop-ups and small restaurants opening up to cater for our love of the stuff. Fancy Funkin Chicken brings the American dish to Brixton with an intimate 50-cover restaurant. Are we worried that it will be another featureless chicken place? Not even slightly; cocktails standout thanks to fresh ingredients from the market and co-founder Rollo Weeks is able to bring Sketch magic to the list. At the weekends there is a DJ and late opening hours to ensure that we stay long after mains have been eaten.
