Parisian opium opulence the inspiration for Camden venue Miusan

What they say:

Having made his name with Cottons Caribbean restaurants in Notting Hill Gate and Boxpark Shoreditch, Chris Singam is turning his hand to The Orient. Miusan will be a three-storey venue that emulates the extravagant opium culture of Paris and New York. The bottom floor will be a bar, there's a basement nightclub and mezzanine private hire venue. Staff will be dressed in traditional Cantonese cheongsams, while food includes dishes such as jasmine tea infused ribs and Buddha dumplings.

What we say:

In Cantonese 'miusan' means temple and we have a feeling that Camden's new opening will worship at the alter of all things debauched. Inspired by the opulence of bohemian Paris and New York during their opium-smoking heyday, Miusan is three levels of fun. The cocktail list promises a taste of China and is filled with ingredients such as lychee and jasmine tea - we can't wait to sip on a Shanghai Alley (tequila, cherry syrup, rice syrup, fresh grapefruit and fresh lime).
