What they say:
Bōkan is an elegant restaurant-bar that's proudly perched atop Canary Wharf's Novotel Hotel. The venue is spread across three floors and appeals to London's dreamers with its fine-dining menu and stunning roof terrace. Overlooking the city's winking skyline, the terrace offers an array of classic cocktails, created using classic techniques, potent bitters and some of the finest international spirits around. Accompanying that, the dinner menu covers a huge amount of ground and features a vast selection of European small plates and main dishes, composed of the finest British ingredients that the chefs can get their hands on. Think charcuterie platters, herb seasoned Lamb Shank and line-caught British Cod.
What we say:
A fine dining experience in an elegant hotel is certainly not a new concept in an area like Canary Wharf. If anything, it's run-of-the-mill. But edging Bōkan ahead of the others is its dazzling roof terrace. Drenched in an orange blanket during the summer and mercifully cosy during the winter months, the amazing views and ace cocktails will give the spot a refreshing, weightless feel that's difficult to create. If the team behind this venue can take that vibe and apply it to the rest of the three-floor venue, they're sure to be on to something amazing.
