The group that brought Shoreditch the Amalfi-style 1950s eatery Gloria are back with another over-the-top Italian restaurant, this time in Central London. Circolo Popolare will be opening in Rathbone Square, moments from Tottenham Court Road, in a huge space that spans an outdoor terrace and 9000sq feet.
This time the trattoria will be based on the Sicilian coast, with festoon lighting and hundreds of plants covering the space. Bottles of spirit will line the wall and there will be an OTT menu of southern Italian dishes, think metre-long pizzas, grilled skewers, and whopping plates of pasta. In true Sicilian style, there will be homemade gelato, with flavours that include the likes of Amalfi lemon and pistachio.
