What they say:
Centre Point is one of the city’s oldest skyscrapers, so it’s only right that this piece of cultural heritage gets the proper modern London redevelopment treatment: being converted into luxury flats and restaurants. Eye-rolling at the inevitably empty flats aside, the redevelopment's new square will be hosting a bunch of tasty arrivals, including Vivi, brought to you by the people behind the beautiful Sky Garden. This Grade II listed building will be a 290-cover all-day restaurant and will, both in design and menu, reflect the building’s 1960s heritage.
What we say:
This restaurant is basically one big retro nod. The interiors will be all geometric patterns, with original tiling from the building being retained. Meanwhile, the lighting will mimic retro primary coloured toy Play Plax, giving it a needed quirky spin. Speaking of quirky spin, the food menu at first glance may sound unappetising to those that lived through the 60s/have access to Google Images (remind me to go home and hug my dad), but they are giving their dishes a modern twist. Expect to find things like chicken a la king – sautéed chicken, cream and white wine sauce served with warm biscuits – and banana splits for two for dessert. With the culinary heritage behind this one, it might just work.
