Jan will open as a 53-cover restaurant showcasing innovative Caspian cuisine from the shores of Iran and Turkey in June. Spread across three areas - a cocktail bar, dining area and heated alfresco space out front - staple dishes like the grilled lamb chops and Caspian-spiced roast chicken will come cooked via the charcoal oven. Jan’s use of Middle Eastern flavours will extend to the cocktail menus too, where a menu will feature authentic spices and home-made syrups, while the venue will serve its own beer curated by Bermondsey’s Brew By Numbers.
What we say:
This cosy restaurant and bar looks well placed to introduce a completely different eating out experience to Clapham. Communal tables and an open-plan kitchen should create a real buzz, and with a bar that makes great use of authentic teas, spices and fresh juices, Jan looks equally well-suited if you fancy skipping dinner and just coming along for the drinks.
