Clapham is home to an all-new hot kitchen, ramen and sushi bar. Kibou is inspired by Tokyo’s bustling backstreets and casual dining scene, blending it with the finest in Japanese whisky, sake and cocktails to create the quintessential Japanese dinner destination.
This will be the first London venture for the Kibou brand, whose flagship is a Cheltenham mainstay that’s won local food awards. The new restaurant is likely to carry on with the same ethos of fresh, authentic dining, with a focus on sushi, such as the volcano roll, the salmon, avocado and tobiko futomaki, and tempura fried and served with signature house sauce. These may well make up their lunch-ready bento boxes, a perfect cure or hangovers and hump day slumps.
When the evenings roll in, date nights at Kibou are likely to consist of ramen, katsu curries, teriyaki and donburi, with plenty of tasty-sounding sides that you won't want to share (we're looking at you tuna tataki). To wash it all down? There's hints on social media about a potential collaboration with Peckham sake brewery Kanpai, but nothing has been confirmed yet. There will however be a focus on Japanese whiskies, perfect for those who love their Yamazaki.
