What they say:
The team behind one of Mayfair's most celebrated restaurants, Kitty Fisher's, are launching their second restaurant in June 2018. Following on from the success of their original venture the Kitty Fisher's team of Tom Mullion, Tim Steel and Oliver Milburn will open new eatery Cora Pearl on Covent Garden's Henrietta Street. Set over two floors of an historic townhouse, the restaurant offers an ideal spot for pre- and post-theatre dining, including an intimate cocktail bar, and a menu of eclectic French and British-inspired plates and drinks.
What we say:
Named for the scandalous historical courtesan, Cora Pearl a new 60-cover restaurant located on the restored ground floors of 30 Henrietta. A former Bella Italia the menu has gone from pasta to pastiche as the French and British-inspired menu from head chef George Barson takes on a distinctly 19th Century undertone, with items such as Shrimp Newburg and a pig jowel toastie appear on the menu, alongside confit pork belly with smoked quince, and a dessert of Earl Grey ice cream, frozen sablé and wild strawberries. The drinks too offer some curious combinations, such as the house cocktail, the Chaine d’Or, which mixes gin, Quinquina, Chartreuse and lime.
