Wine Dinner: Amalfi Wines - The estate of Benito Ferrara
-
1 review - The Petersham
Petersham Cellar are delighted to host this exclusive wine dinner where we combine beautiful food, a stylish setting and great wine.
Campania is the ‘shin’ of Italy’s boot, with Naples as its capital. Campania’s success owes much to the varied climates and terroirs that host around 100,000 of vines. This region, close to the sea, enjoys abundant sunshine with dry and hot summers and mild winters; all these components make it perfect for growing vines. The region has strong historical links to wine and vine, dating back to the 12th century BC, and is one of Italy's very oldest wine regions. Viticulture is in its element thanks to an abundance of sunshine, dry hot summers, mild winters, a long growing season and volcanic soil.
Petersham Cellar have been working with the Benito Ferrara wine estate, located in Campania, South West Italy, for the last 7 years and are delighted to present a range of their top wines.
The Ferrara family produces from vines situated in San Paolo di Tufo in the heart of Campania, where they have been making wine since 1880. Ferrara's vines are planted on steep volcanic slopes at 450-600 metres above sea level, where hand-harvesting is obligatory and where the sulphurous nature of the soil only serves to enhance the aromatic characteristics of the Greco di Tufo, Fiano and Aglianico grape. Everything is organic at the farm, and only a little sulphur and copper are used as the steady, light breezes help to reduce the threat of mould and other predators.

A perfect and relaxing experience in a beautiful setting. The demonstrator was very nice and I learnt so much for my first floral demo. I would definitely attend another workshop at The Petersham. Also very nice rose wine was included.
