Description
Housed on Berners Street, Fitzrovia, Akoko serves a contemporary menu of West African dishes utilising fresh, British ingredients.
The restaurant features a wine list from sommeliers Honey Spencer and Ania Smelskaya, vibrant interiors, an open kitchen and bespoke ceramics to serve up its signature dishes. Channelling acclaimed chef Theo Clench's three pillars of West African cooking - fire, umami and spice - the kitchen is fronting stunning dishes that utilise ingredients like grains of paradise and scotch bonnets.
Whether you've come for the 6 or 9-course tasting menu, you're guaranteed a tasty time. Think Gambian oysters cooked on coals and served with stew; slow-cooked Cornish Turbot on jollof rice; and desserts in the form of caramelised agege, grilled pineapple and iru ice cream. Wine not your thing? Make your way through the cocktail list instead.
