What they say:
The taste of the Mediterranean is coming to Fitzrovia and Meraki are planning on doing it right. The brains behind Roka, Zuma and The Arts Club are opening a new Greek restaurant and have scoured the length and breadth of the country to find the freshest ingredients for their dishes: we’re talking bottarga from Mesologgi, graviera cheese from Naxos and even wine from independent Greek vineyards. The venue will be split between two entrances, each with their own alfresco dining area in true Mediterranean fashion, with one leading into the restaurant and the second leading into the bar.
What we say:
Fresh is normally the first word you think of when taking about Mediterranean food, but Meraki are hoping to go that one step further by getting the ingredients from the source. This will deliver to London tasty dishes like slow-cooked ox cheek with hilopites from Trikala, artichokes and graviera, as well as baked cod wrapped in vine leaves, artichokes and broad beans in a mussels broth. The bar follows suit, with a cocktail list utilising authentic Greek herbs like kritamo, mastic and marjoram, as well as citrus from Naxos. But craft beer fans should be most excited, as they'll also serve up craft beer from the country’s growing – but little known in Britain – craft scene.
