What they say:
The team behind famous West London restaurant Chisou have turned their attention to the bustle of Great Portland Street, opening a new spot in the heart of Fitzrovia. Sushi Atelier is a new, cosy restaurant that, as you've probably guessed from the name, serves freshly made sushi dishes to all its guests. In an attempt to make a splash, the restaurant's menu revolves more around contemporary sushi dishes than recreating classic recipes. Think BBQ tuna with parmesan, saba nigiri with chilli lime oroshi and tofu salad with tofu cream.
What we say:
If the food at Chisou is anything to go by, we're expecting big things from Sushi Atelier. In truth, London is bursting full of sushi restaurants, all promising fresh dishes that add subtle tweaks to otherwise traditional recipes; it's not secret, the competition will be fierce. But it's the venue's layout that's really caught our eye. You can sit right up against the sushi bar and see exactly how the sushi chefs precisely slice, cook and roll every plate of food. Sort of like a hibachi-sushi cross, we reckon this aspect will make every trip to this Great Portland Street venue a memorable one.
