Description
Rok Smokehouse Islington brings traditional Nordic cuisine and inventive cocktails to a Grade II listed building on the ever-bustling Upper Street. The 60-cover restaurant and bar is open for lunch and dinner every day, and if it's anything like their first venture on Curtain Road, we're in for a real treat.
Praised for their ‘simple but exquisite’ plates of Scandinavian influence in Shoreditch, Rok the second will launch with a seasonal summer menu featuring dishes like Mackerel with pickled onions & flamed crispbread and Guinea fowl with semi-cured pork belly & butter poached wild vegetables. Exec chef Matt Young will work closely with trusted suppliers, and the menu will feature a few favourites from the Shoreditch restaurant, too.
Drinks-wise, cocktail guru Matt Whiley has put together a refined list that has been developed to complement the bold, smoky flavours of the kitchen. Start out by sampling signature mixes like the Seasonal Bones and Aquavit Sour, with an expanded wine list showcasing biodynamic and minimum intervention bottles also on the agenda.
