What they say:
Arriving at a Grade II-listed building on the lively Upper Street, Rok Smokehouse brings their ‘simple but exquisite’ plates of Nordic influence to a 60-cover restaurant and bar. The restaurant has launched with a summer menu featuring new dishes and favourites from their existing Shoreditch site, while the wine list features biodynamic bottles and the cocktail guru Matt Whiley is to thank for trademark libations like the Seasonal Bones and Aquavit Sour.
What we say:
Still need some convincing? This review of the first Rok site in Shoreditch should do the trick. Rok has been showered with praise for bringing a varied spread of smoked meat, cures, pickles and veggie dishes that you might typically find on tables across Nordic lands. The prospect of gorging on trademark plates from the Curtain Road restaurant as well as a few new surprises makes this one of the hottest openings in London this summer.
