The Cross

Description

Back in the naughty 90s, The Cross was one of London’s premiere destination nightclubs. It closed with the redevelopment of King’s Cross and the original railway arches it once occupied now belong to Tim Dixon at Coal Drops Yard.

The Cross has returned, just 10 mins away from its original home, now residing on Wharfdale Road. The venue offers much more than the original - it still has a basement club now with an additional, slick ground floor bar, plus a first-floor restaurant that takes inspiration from the Mediterranean with smart small plates and two beautiful lounge bars, The Barn and The Red Room. In addition to all that, there’s a roof terrace that offers cracking views and lots of plush banquette seating to recline in.

The menu in the dining room keeps things compact with a mixture of snacks, salads and Med-influenced plates. Dishes include crispy squid with a sweet chilli jam, pan-fried cod with lentils, spinach, garlic parsley and chilli and lamb cutlets with Dijon mustard and pistachio crust. For dessert, choose from a selection of ice cream and sorbets or maybe a white chocolate cheesecake with seasonal fruit.

The drinks list is similarly tightly curated, with an organic wine list accompanying innovative house cocktails like the Jasmine Aviation (Bombay Sapphire gin, lemon, violette and jasmine liqueur), hazelnut old fashioneds, and a selection of low and no-alcohol cocktails.

After dinner, enjoy the rooftop bar, or one of the opulent lounge bars before heading to the gritty basement club and party until the early hours.

Six floors of luxuriously designed space.

The overarching narrative of the space celebrates the namesake, location, and history of The Cross. The design, therefore, is inspired by the structure of the original building itself, as well as the industrial surroundings of the Kings Cross area in London.

When you enter the reception lobby set against lush curtains and a grand chandelier you arrive to the the Ground Floor Bar with leather lounge seating and a beautiful horseshoe shaped, brass topped bar.  The first floor is home to our 54 cover Restaurant, natural light streams through the floor to ceiling French windows.  The decor consists of brassed topped dining tables with leather and walnut chairs, stripped wooden floors and a stunning marble bar.  The Barn is on the second floor, a 28 seated casual dining space, that doubles up as a lounge bar.  It has reclaimed wood cladded walls and floor, with marble topped tables and a beautiful curved marble bar.  The Red Room is on the third floor, opulent, striking, chic, describes this room with lush marble topped circular tables with velvet bucket chairs in deep reds and salmon pinks.  The perfect setting for cocktails and canapés.
