Japan's most prestigious steakhouse, Aragawa, is bringing its melt in the mouth wagyu steak to Mayfair. Taking over from Miyama on Clarges Street, this haunt is definitely one for those with big pockets, with meals in the Tokyo restaurant costing upwards of £400. Designed by owner Mitsuya Yamada, this spot has swoon-worthy interiors, dark coral walls and a chic open kitchen to add theatricality to the fine-dining experience.
It would be a huge mis-steak to not try their exclusive cuts of wet-aged Kobe beef, which are carefully grilled over binchotan charcoal, then seasoned perfectly with salt, pepper and mustard. The kitchen also offers a delightful range of salmon that's bound to hit those much-needed umami notes. Not only do they nail the food game, but the drink list features matured grand cru wines such as Bourgogne and Bordeaux, and plenty of fabulous Champagne.
