What they say:
What happens when you take one former Wall Street financier dubbed 'The Mafia's Banker' and add a chef found on Gumtree? An exciting new Notting Hill opening set in a former garage, that's what. Luca Lombardi is the man behind 108 Garage, an intimate and industrial space that uses soft furnishings to contrast with the exposed brick restaurant and stainless steel bar. Chef Chris Denney has designed a fresh and seasonal menu that uses unusual cuts of meat to create European-style fusion dishes.
What we say:
A former garage might not seem the likely venue for a new restaurant but it turns out one-time banker Luca Lombardi isn't only good with numbers, he also knows how to transform interesting spaces. Maintaining the theme of 'research and repair', 108 Garage will give West London a bit of industrial chic as well as a menu full of dishes such as barbecued fine leaf mackerel with smoked yogurt and kimchi designed by Chris Denney, formerly of Michelin-starred Hambleton Hall. Having met on Gumtree, it looks like this pairing is something of a dream team as they plan to regenerate more venues including a New York launderette, LA hardware store, and a Miami pharmacy.
