Description
Penkul & Banks is an all day cafe, bar and restaurant situated on Curtain Road in thriving Shoreditch. Taking its name from two old furniture businesses that used to stand on its spot on Curtain Road, Penkul (a cabinet maker) and Banks (an armchair manufacturer), the venue has now been transformed into a thriving restaurant-cum-cocktail bar serving up East Asian inspired cuisine.
Serving up pastries and coffees in the morning, Penkul & Banks is open all day for brunch and lunch too. In the evening things really start to pick up as it serves up its own blend of European cuisine, with an East Asian twist. With dishes tailored to a tapas/sharing style, diners can try unusual bites from Baby squid, flavoured with Togarashi, to Pork belly with quince. Although more conventional options like Mini burgers with bacon and avocado are also available.
Cocktails include the fabulously named Dragonfruit Collins at £9, a vodka based, citrus mix using the syrup of the East Asian Dragonfruit. Perfect for an afternoon coffee, or a bite to eat and a cocktail with friends after work, Penkul & Banks taps into the relaxed Shoreditch vibe.
