What they say:
Launched back in 2013, David Carter’s Smokestak has earned a loyal following of BBQ lovers thanks to its “simple, no-nonsense” approach to food. Plating up USDA brisket, pork and beef rib dishes at Street Feast and other UK food festivals, this first permanent restaurant will cook up signature plates like crispy beef shin, brisket bun & pickled red chilli and thick-cut pork ribs in a striking 75-seater of a restaurant designed to feel like the inside of a smoker.
What we say:
Featuring an interior design characterised by black barbon stained concrete walls and old workshop furnishings, this is sure to be one unique smokehouse when it opens up in early November. There’s to be a 30-seater outdoor terrace for the warmer months and downstairs the intimate, candlelit cellar bar should get the pre-dinner tipples started just right with a menu featuring six cocktails, 25 wines and four locally-brewed beers.
