Blacklock

Description

Ex-Hawksmoor whizz Gordon Ker has taken to a former basement brothel in Soho to open a steak restaurant dedicated to chops and happily affordable cocktails. This is Blacklock - an intimate space of communal wooden tables and candlelit vibes – where guests pick between racks of beef, pork, lamb and veal at wallet-friendly rates.

Expertly grilled over charcoal and a scolding vintage iron grill, this meat is as crisp on the outside as it is tender on the in. A carnivorous feast should quickly ensue, as guests settle around the communal tables for a chat and a swill at a few £5 cocktails. Yep, that’s cocktails… in Soho… for a fiver. There’s a solid stream of wine too if mixed drinks aren’t your thing. And if you head over on a Sunday? You'll be treat to one helluva London Sunday roast.

Blacklock Soho - London Restaurant Bar Review

Hidden below in the depths of Soho is Blacklock, a contemporary Deep South Smokehouse serving chargrilled specialty cuts of meat, comforting sides and a select range of very reasonably priced and punchy cocktails. Venue Hovering my foot over the first step down into this candescent cellar, I felt a…
