Pan-Asian cuisine has landed in Soho as Freak Scene has finally opened a permanent restaurant on Frith Street.
Originating as a well-known pop-up in Clerkenwell visited by the Game of Thrones cast and Professor Green, Freak Scene promises foodie heaven with funky dishes served at affordable prices. 'Curious Asian plates' inspired by Japanese, Singaporean, and Malay cooking are curated by founder and former Nobu head chef, Scott Hallsworth, who founded Kurobuta. Expect innovative dishes, with a bar that stays open late after dinner.
Signature dishes like miso-grilled black cod tacos with sushi rice and scorched red chilli and honey-hoisin grilled pork belly, mussels, and chilli jam ssam wrap are cooked on the robata grills to be enjoyed with sake bombs. The open kitchen has seating with a perfect view for watching your dinner get grilled up while the less brave can bask in the quirkiness that Freak Scene has to offer; reruns of Japanese game shows play on big screens and vintage posters line the walls.
