Paradise

Nestled in the heart of Soho on Rupert Street is Paradise, a restaurant whipping up contemporary Sri Lankan plates. Dishes are inspired by humble family recipes, taking a leaf out of Portuguese, Malay, South Indian and Dutch cookbooks.

A minimalist interior gives the impression of a concrete jungle with low-hanging lights hovering over countertops. It's edgy, yet charming, and both cocktails and cuisine take an ingredient-driven approach to creations with the help of bar head Erin Mulkerrin-English and founder Dom Fernando.

The set menu is divided into land and sea, and veg and plant, with eight courses coming in at £59 per person, alongside an additional £39 for the wine pairing of the week. Expect to delight in the likes of hand-chopped dry-aged raw fillet steak tartare with a tomato and garlic emulsion, lamb saddle with a black garlic curry, nettle and coconut, plus white chocolate and Alphonso mango mini-magnum for dessert. Drinks-wise, the mango negroni and whiskey highball are both hits.
