What they say:
XU is a new, high-end Taiwanese restaurant coming from the team behind popular street food venue Bao. Holding 68 covers, the interior is decked out with dark wood panelling to create an aesthetic described as a ‘cinematic reinterpretation of 1930s Taipei.’ While Bao became renowned for its steamed buns costing up to £5, XU is focusing on larger dishes designed for sharing sourced from high quality, local suppliers.
What we say:
XU should make any Taiwanese food fanatic very excited. This new venue is coming from the team behind Bao who, aside from their delicious food, are known for people queuing around the street to get a bite of their food; in London, if that’s not proof of concept, we don’t know what is. However, XU has shifted focus away from street food and onto high-end, large sharing dishes, including a roast chicken stuffed with herbs and spices, which diners will have to break apart with their hands. There will also be a tea master, acting as an expert for their range of Taiwanese tea.
