Humble Crumble

What started as founder Kim's desire to draw people out in the winter, the same way revellers flock to ice cream parlours in the summer, has evolved into the social media-famous dessert spot, Humble Crumble. Through word of mouth, a simple pop-up serving unique variations of crumble amassed a cult following, which has seen her set up three bakeries across the city in Old Spitalfields, Borough and Camden Market. 

The Spitalfields cafe's interiors are warm and welcoming - delicate orbs of light dangle from the ceiling, illuminating soft stone walls and a marble-topped workstation where all the magic happens. Of course, it wouldn't be Humble Crumble without bursts of its trademark baby pink around, would it? 

On the menu, there's an array of indulgent options, including gooey vegan pots and build-your-own affairs. The crumbrûlée (£7.50) is a popular pick, fronting rich custard with a glassy brown glaze. It's worth keeping an eye out for special edition treats too, such as Cherry Bakewell versions (£7.50) and innovative, seasonal creations that have seen crumbles topped with easter egg nests in the past. Swing by for a classic (£7) alongside a steaming cup of coffee or a soft drink from Fentiman's who provide cherry cola and rose lemonade.
