Content covered in the Acting Fundamentals and Acting Trust Yourself classes will be different so it is possible to take both classes successively.
Those wishing to book for both classes will receive £100 discount on booking, making the total course fee for both classes £200.
11-week course (2 hours 30 mins p/week)
Mondays: 6:30pm - 7:45pm (7:45pm - 8pm break) 8pm - 9:15pm
Course begins: 29th April - 22nd July (no class for first May Bank Holiday 6th May or 3rd June due to Masterclass)
Students will perform in a theatre performance in the prestigious Chapel Playhouse, King's Cross on the last day of the course!
ACTING - THE FUNDAMENTALS will cover:
If you're completely new to acting or you'd like a refresher - this course is for you! Students will work with the umbrella categories: Movement, Acting and Voice.
The course will include:
- Working in a safe and supportive atmosphere to develop your skills as a performer and communicator.
- Animal Studies - creating characters from animals.
- Laban efforts - working through movement planes.
- Meisner Technique.
- The Power of Intention.
- Being physically present, understanding alignment and how to use your physicality to create character.
- Working with improvisational and devising techniques to create performance.
- Vocal techniques to understand resonance, being 'on support' and working from the core.
- Working with scripts and gaining confidence sight reading.
- Using Stanislavsky methods to develop truth in performance.
- Understanding the importance of status.
- How to write treatments.
ACTING - TRUST YOURSELF will cover:
This course is all about trusting yourself and your ideas and having confidence in your approach to others and yourself. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have previously studied acting but would like a refresher.
The course will include:
- Techniques to settle nerves and feel comfortable interacting and reacting to others.
- Methods to learn lines quickly and effectively.
- Working practically with Acting, Movement and Voice techniques to improve confidence and speak with assuredness.
- Learning how to trust your intuition.
- Feel comfortable working in the ensemble as well as individually.
- Public speaking breathing techniques.
- Improvisation.
- Listening to your inner voice.
- Scriptwriting and story arcing.
- Learning how to use your voice with authority and clarity.

About the teacher:
This course will be taught by Maddy Anholt. Maddy is an actress, comedian and writer, she trained at ALRA. Maddy has had four sell-out one-woman shows at Underbelly, Gilded Balloon, main stage Latitude Festival and Soho Theatre, plus a UK tour. She was nominated for 'Best New Show' at Leicester Comedy Festival and shortlisted for 'Pick of the Fringe' at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Maddy had her self-penned comedy, which she also performed on BBC Radio 4, she has filmed with BBC, ITV, Warner Bros, Channel 5 and more. Most recently she filmed a part in BBC Three's 'Jerk' and she also guests on ITV's 'This Morning'. Maddy has a TV series in development. She has been teaching and running workshops for 8 years.
