Come and experience a fun and muddy weekday evening or weekend session throwing on a potters wheel with me, Paddy Hartley at my London Bridge ceramics studio just 3 minutes walk from Shard. My two and a half hour sessions for 2 friends (on one ticket) will introduce you to throwing on the potters wheel and is geared towards first-time pottery novices.

The first hour of our session is all about focussed, friendly instruction for you and a friend in throwing on the wheel. You will learn how to centre your clay, how to open your centred clay and how to draw up the clay walls of your bowl/pot. I’ll also show you some quick and simple finishing techniques including profiling the base of your pot for that added zing before the final challenge, cutting your pot from the wheel.

The second period of the session is a timed ’speed-pot’ where you and your friend take turns applying all you’ve learned in 5 minute quick fire ‘pot-offs’ on the wheel. You’ll also experience throwing with your eyes closed relying entirely on touch alone and you’ll be AMAZED at the results! The emphasis is on fun and learning as much from what goes wrong as what goes right. Each of you will pick your favourite bowl/pot at the end of the session for glazing and collection at a later date if you so choose. 

IS OUR BOOKING REALLY JUST FOR ME, MY +1 TO ATTEND??

Absolutely it is! No potting with a bunch of people you've never met so youll feel totally at ease. Its just , you, your +1, me, a potters wheel and a bag of mud that we turn into glorious snack bowls!

PRE-LOAD YOUR DATE-NIGHT WITH A SOLO PRACTICE SESSION!

If you are thinking of booking a speedpottery session as a date night, why not book a speedpot as a solo practice session to get a grip of the basics, then book another session as your date-night to totally impress the chops off your date! You will be your +1's pottery hero/heroine! And don't worry, Ill keep your practice session a secret! 

If you enjoy the experience, you can book further in-depth tuition and wheel time sessions if you wish to hone your newly acquired throwing skills further. Don't buy Birthday or Christmas presents ever again! (unless its a speedpot session that is). Use gift giving season as a great excuse to learn how to make pots, simply buy wheeltime and make all your gifts. Everyone is a winner!

If you've booked to attend a group class with another potter, novices often get lost in the group and feel intimidated by the amazing clay creations emerging from the fingertips of their fellow student potters. WEEKDAY EVENING BOOKINGS FLEXIBLE START TIMES

Weekday evening sessions have flexible start times to accommodate whatever time you finish work. Sessions are 2 and a half hours long as usual but you can choose your start time. Earliest start time is 5pm. Very latest start time is 7pm. Once you book, Paddy will contact you to ask your preferred start time.

Once you book, Youll receive an email within 24hrs with full details regarding studio location which will include a map attachment to help you find the studio. FAQs

What happens once Ive booked a speedpot session? Once you've booked your session, Ill email you with a few questions which will help your session run as smoothly as possible and Ill forward the map and directions to my studio. Please reply to this email as soon as possible. Please make sure your email address associated with your DesignMyNight customer profile is your current active email address. I will need to contact you to give you directions to my studio.

Is this event strictly ADULTS ONLY? Yes, adults only please. The event venue does not permit admittance to under-18’s and youngsters are not permitted even accompanied by an adult.

Is this a group activity with more participants than just myself and my +1? The session will be run by Me for just you and your +1 so you’ll get undivided attention and tuition throughout the session.

Can more than two people attend a speedpot session? My studio is compact so I only usually accommodate two speedpotters in each session (you and a +1). I can however work with groups of 3 but ask that in this instance, you book a double session as we have a lot to cover in each speedpot! Contact me directly if you are considering booking a double session and I will create a listing specially for you.

Do you take weekday daytime bookings? Yes absolutely. If you want to make a weekday daytime booking, contact me directly and I will create a listing specially for you. paddyhartley@gmail.com

What's the refund policy? Due to a high volume of last minute cancellations and postponement requests, Ive revised my refund policy.

If you wish to reschedule for a session in the weeks/months ahead, this can be accommodated, please give 7 days notice to 

I will issue full refunds up to 7 days before you are due to attend if you need you need to cancel your booking

I will issue 50% refunds if you need to cancel your session up to 32 hours before your session start time. Any cancellations 3 days prior to attendion your session are not eligible for refunds.

If you arrive more than 20 minutes late, this is too late to for me to adequately deliver the event and will consider the session cancelled. In this instance I do not issue refunds. Ideally arrive 10 minutes before your allocated start time. Your speedpot session is solely for you and your guest. 

Last minute cancellations mean I do not have adequate time to fill your vacant session so please contact me as soon as possible if you need to postpone or cancel and please arrive on time.

Do you provide aprons? Yes I do but you will inevitably get a little muddy so Id advise against wearing your best clothes and shoes. We use white clay. All clay used washes out.

Is this event unsuitable for anyone? Some of the materials we will be using are unsuitable for those who suffer from severe asthma, have breathing difficulties, skin allergies or are in any stage of pregnancy. If any of these apply to you, Please Do Not sign up for this event. Im afraid babies, toddlers and children under 18 cannot attend with Mum or Dad due to the nature of the space I work in. 

Anything else?? Yes, if you are currently recovering from surgery or broken limbs, fingers, ankle, shoulder injury or back strains etc, please only book after you've fully recovered. If you or your +1 are in any stage of pregnancy, please Do Not book this event. Sitting at the potters wheel whilst pregnant is not a comfortable experience and youll be putting pressure on your bump. Throwing on the potters wheel requires more physical effort than you might imagine! Finally, short fingernails will be advantageous!

This event is strictly for people over 18 only. 

Please Do Not consume alcohol immediately prior to attending your speedpot session. This is a site requirement.
