Learn a famous ballet variation: Beginners Ballet
-
6 reviews - The Place
If you have always wanted to try ballet, but never got around to it, now is your time! Join this class for an evening of inspiring movement and work towards learning a famous variation. Left, right and centre, we are bombarded with the idea that dance is something that we have to start young. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Dancing is something that is natural to each and every one of us. It is healing, rejuvenating and invigorating, so give it a go!
These classes aim to help those completely new to ballet to understand more about the art form, how dance can be used in storytelling and how to convey our emotions and narratives through our bodies. The classes focus on one variation (dance) every four weeks, giving students the time to develop skill, technique and artistry. Each week we build on what we have learnt and put the steps together to learn a full-length routine inspired by a classical ballet performance. So far have taught variations from iconic ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Don Quixote! Unlike most dance classes, we aim to develop your individual expression and help you to enjoy dancing, as opposed to just mastering it!
In the coming months, we will learn dances inspired by the following famous variations [feel free to search them on Youtube for a better idea of what they entail!]
05th, 12th, 19th and 26th January: Odalisque pas de trois 2nd variation - Le Corsaire
02nd, 09th, 16th and 23rd February - Giselle Act 1 Variation - Giselle
01st, 08th, 15th and 22nd March - Gazmatti 's Variation - La Bayadere
29th March, 05th and 26th April and 3rd May - Sylvia Variation Act 3 - Sylvia
