Rio Tashan has underground music in his blood. Born and raised in a London household, surrounded by the sounds of the new era, he has been entrenched in a culture of basslines and kick drums his whole life. Cutting his teeth on the turntables over the last three years, he has showcased a flair for all things 130bpm and already started making waves in the circuit, as well as beginning to dip his toes into production.
Rio takes a soulful approach to the music, blending funky vibes with harder techno sensibilities, reminiscent of DJs like Honey Dijon, and producers such as Daft Punk. His lively house and disco sets have already garnered him sets all around London, Birmingham, Nottingham, and even a memorable appearance at Croatia’s Hideout Festival. Needless to say, in a short time he has become one to watch in the scene.

Rio Tashan Invites is his first self-produced club night, and it will be a deep dive into some of the music that truly defines his taste. The night will perhaps go a little harder, taking things a little darker than he’s known for, while still holding onto the spirit of funk and soul that has taken him so far. And an intimate setting, paired with a powerful sound system in Hackney Social makes for a fitting location for Rio to reveal a little more of himself to his crowd.
