Join us for an introductory masterclass on Shochu & Awamori, two fascinating Japanese spirits - brought to you by VSF x The Larder At 36

About this Event

VSF is joining hands again with The Larder At 36. This time round, we are going to hold a fun-filled masterclass on Japanese Shochu & Awamori on Sunday 19 April evening.

Learn about the different production methods and styles of Shochu & Awamori and taste a carefully curated flight of premium samples.

Shochu (焼酎) is Japan’s oldest spirit typically distilled from rice (kome), barley (mugi), sweet potatoes (imo), buckwheat (soba), or brown sugar (kokuto), among other ingredients. In fact, Shochu is consumed more than nihonshu (Japanese sake) in Japan although the latter is often heralded as Japan's national drink; as for Awamori (泡盛), it is an alcoholic beverage similar to Shochu, but indigenous and unique to Okinawa, made from long-grain indica rice in a single fermentation exclusively using black koji.

During the masterclass, The Larder at 36's food & drinks guru Marie will not only tell us all about the different styles and production methods of these Japanese spirits, but also guide us through an array of selected samples. Some of these Shochu & Awamori are not even available in the UK!!!

A perfect event (or gift idea) for Asian drinks lovers! What's more, "early bird" tickets are now only £55/person (instead of the usual price of £70/person)!

To ensure quality, we only have a very limited number of tickets available. Act now to avoid disappointment.

I had a superb time learning about Sake and Sake production methods. Tony and Winnie were excellent hosts, and their obvious enthusiasm encouraged all attendees to participate, regardless of experience. I will look out for future evenings.
