Retro cocktails
Following the huge success of their 5 star cocktail bar in a pie and mash shop on Walthamstow market, ‘one of London’s cult drinking experiences’ (Time Out), The Jellied Eel presents a new immersive winter pop up that will harness the spirit of Studio 54 and 1970s Manhattan.
A massive retro camper van provides the backdrop to a cosy winter paradise with 70s furniture, fur rugs, a vintage wood burner, disco ball, and superb period warehouse features. Performers include Silvia Pavone, who after running away to the circus as a teenager has become a world class hula hoop star, using cutting edge LED technology to create an unforgettable, multidimensional visual experience. Her television appearances have included the John Bishop show. The house pianist, Adam Sopp, is an actor and musician who has appeared in BAFTA and Olivier Award winning productions including Sunny Afternoon and Last Night in Soho.
It wouldn’t be the 70s, or winter, without fondue. And at Studio Paradiso the fondue is made with a very special ingredient: Champagne! Layered into the Comté, Gruyère and Emmental, the Heidsieck Monopole Brut Grand Cuvée takes the fondue to new heights. All served with classic accoutrements and optional charcuterie boards, the fondue is presented in vintage fondue sets.
As well as Champagne from drinks partner Heidsieck Monopole, the cocktail menu will include a Winter Negroni using Aquavit and Pedro Ximenez sherry, a Walnut Old Fashioned, and Hot Buttered Rum. Heidsieck is a Grand Marque Champagne, with its heritage going back to 1785. Internationally recognised the world over, Heidsieck is proud to be poured this winter in association with The Jellied Eel.
STUDIO PARADISO will launch on Thursday 25 November, and will open every Thursday-Sunday, with two events on a Saturday, until 19 December. It will then reopen from Thursday 30 December to Sunday 30 January. The New Year’s Eve special will include half a bottle of Champagne per person, a disco countdown to midnight, and a host of other surprises.
The strictly limited first release of tickets will start at £34, or £38 on a Friday and Saturday night, which includes fondue. Guests can even book the table in the camper van for up to 4 people, with a bottle of Champagne thrown in, or a cosy date space for two in the old goods lift, with director's chairs and lighted mirror - also with a bottle of Champagne.
New Year’s Eve tickets will start at £65 and include half a bottle of Champagne per person.
Patchworks is East London’s newest creative space. Part furniture factory, part studio, part event space, in the coming weeks and months Patchworks will showcase local artists and makers, providing a platform for creative expression for everyone to enjoy.
