Funny, moving, quirky. French-born ArchiPol has been playing the cello since his early years and composed his first songs as a teenager. He then performed in cafes, bars and as a street busker in the different cities where he lived. He has an eclectic path and lived and studied in Paris, the United States and United Kingdom.
After graduating from Sciences Po Paris and King’s College London, he chooses the hard and wonderfully strenuous life of a singer and musician. He learnt the guitar by himself (he also plays the piano, percussions and flutes) and studied opera singing at the Royal College of Music (London). With two of his college companions, he wrote, arranged and produced his first album, ‘Dans l’abysse des interstices’ (In the Abyss of Interstices), which was released in 2012: a selection of 10 original songs, all with their distinct universe; 10 islands with their specific ecosystems and harmony. The release of the CD leads to a series of concerts in Paris (Sentier des Halles) and London including regular broadcasting on national French radio.
In London, where he continued to perform on the local music scene, he devised a second project, ‘Drôle de Monde’ (Odd World). Quite different from the first one, this album includes 12 original French songs dedicated to the learning of French language for English-speaking pupils. The project was written in collaboration with A-level French and produced by the London-based e-learning company, a major platform e-learning materials for foreign language teaching. The album (alongside with the accompanying workbook of exercises) was released in 2016 and is sold in most English-speaking countries (United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand… and United Kingdom).
