London's best Open Mic, as voted for by the people that run it. Taking place in our new home (you might have attended a Guitar Social Open Mic in Kings Cross or one of our bars in Hackney) you can expect an Open Mic unlike any other.

We pride ourselves on making sure that everyone that attends gets a good hearing. We also love networking people, so you'll be introduced to people meaning that, unless you're specifically the sort that likes their own space,  you won't have to sit all night feeling like a stranger at someone else's party.

You'll have a a perfect evening, whether you're performing or coming down to watch. This is our promise to you, a promise I would like you to keep in mind as you read through the below list of terms that reads like a passive aggressive welcome manual at a sketchy Air B and B.

Terms

Performance slots: Two songs, or about 8 minutes of whatever else you do.

Recording and filming: We can record and film your performance using Pro Tools, great quality cameras and studio lighting for £50 There's no expectation for you to do this, and if I could do it for free I would, the editing just takes an age so we now have to charge.

Running order: The running order is decided upon on the night, based on several factors, and isn't provided in advance or even on the night (sorry!) You'll be given a rough estimated time slot on the night

Play and dash: If you don't have time to hang around after or before your performance, we ask that you join us on an evening when you have more time. We aim to make sure that everyone gets the same sized audience, old hands will know the crushing feeling of playing last to a room with about four people left in it, so, we kindly ask you not to play and dash. Unless your Bob Dylan. We aim to have all music concluded by 10.45 an no later than 11pm

Booking your slot: We can no longer accept walk ins. You'll need to book your slot ahead of time by emailing thomas@theguitarsocial.com

Getting there

The Guitar Social
The Guitar Social began in 2014, based on a simple idea that playing and learning guitar is more fun if you do it with other people. It had one class, and twelve learners. Since then, it has become something else. Today The Guitar Social is a place to meet new people. It's a place to learn new skills. To develop your musical confidence. To try things you have never tried before. It's the starting point on a great adventure. It's a community. It's about making friends. It's about going places. It's a class on a rainy Sunday. It's a jam on boat on a blue ocean. It's a pint in a pub. It's a shared pot of coffee at one of our camp retreats.  It's many things to many people, but most of all, it's the people within it, that make it what it is.

A complete nightmare, to be honest. The secon act ahd a nice voice but he just shouted out his vocals and was unlistenable! Cam Cole had real problems setting up. After 45 minutes of fiddling adn loud feedback, he started, but was never happy with the levels and kept wanting everything tunred up to max, to the point that our ears were in seious jeopardy. We left after grimacing through four songs. What you would call a complete disaster of a night. Finborough arms does need to sort out its sound systems.
