Description
"A killer band with real bite"
Mark Youll – JazzWise Magazine
A performance of hard-hitting jazz, blues, Latin, hard bop and post-bop including rarely performed classics by the likes of George Russell, Woody Shaw, Duke Pearson, Pepper Adams and others.
'Following on form their highly acclaimed 2018 album "Point Blank" the Organisation (with Tony Kofi on Baritone sax) have teamed up with first call session sax Paul Booth. Paul has in a long standing member of Steve Winwood's band has recently been touring with West Coast legends the Eagles, in addition he has toured or recorded with Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Van Morrison, the Allman Brothers Band , Chaka Khan, Derek Trucks and others, the band will be exploring the point where Post Bop, blues Gospal, funk and latin collide.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
The association was created as a result of a last-minute dep at Kent jazz institution, the Eagle Tavern, with Tony fresh from recording with Ornette Coleman in New York. Playing both alto and baritone on the date there was an instant affinity between the players, the Organisation’s combination of both the Bluesy soul jazz side the Hammond canon, and their knowledge of the more modern post-bop side of the repertoire (as typified by Woody Shaw’s “Moontrane”) working perfectly with Tony’s approach. It is to the credit of all the musicians that they have played a long game, developing their craft and style on the UK jazz circuit and the sounds you will hear are the sounds of a band who have put the hours in and held an ace in their collective hand until the moment to play it was just right.

Over the next four years at the Academy, Paul combined his studies with gigs in London and across the UK, that included a long association with Colombian percussionist Roberto Pla and a partnership with pianist Alex Wilson that’s still going strong. During his third year, Paul won the prestigious Clifford Brown/Stan Getz Fellowship in Miami USA, and spent a six month exchange in Perth at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. Following his graduation in 1997, Paul immersed himself in the world of the professional musician. He eventually joined the European Glenn Miller Orchestra for eight tours, before landing the saxophone chair for the worldwide smash hit show, Riverdance, staying for eighteen months. In 2005 Paul toured the US and Japan with Basia and Matt Bianco, and soon after received the call from Steve Winwood with whom he has been working ever since.
