If you're looking for live rock music in the Blackheath/Lewisham area, Tigerfest at The Old Tigers Head should be on your radar.
The Mean Tigers, formerly known as the Meantimers, will be hosting this upcoming Tigerfest event on Saturday, 13th November. The four-piece band came together in a very unique way, discovering they all had a passion for live music by randomly meeting...at a series of children's parties.
Guitarist Eddie and drummer Diego met at a mutual friend's kids party and whilst their daughters' inhaled e-numbers and jumped dangerously, unmonitored on the bouncy castle, they discovered they shared both a love for rock music and a desire to form a band to jam with. Needing to find other members to make up the band, and after attending another 18 parties, Eddie finally found another similarly minded dad - in the shape of bassist and lead vocalist AJ - whose musical tattoos and skin head screamed "frustrated rock dad". Killing two birds with one stone, AJ's mate and rhythm guitarist Dave was also recruited at the party, and so the dad band the Meantimers were born.
After a year of regular weekly jams and realising that they didn't sound utterly terrible, they decided to do a live gig pre lockdown and it was an instant hit....or so it was when they played it out in their heads, because Covid meant the gig never managed to take place.
Dusting of the cobwebs post lockdown, the guys got back to rehearsing and The Mean Tigers are finally in action on the 13th of November.
They will be playing a set of exciting live rock covers, including some modern classics by The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and White Stripes, and will then be heading back to the 90s and the golden era of grunge with songs by Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots.
DJ Dan will then be taking us into the latter part of the evening with party classics and modern hits.
This is a free event but space is limited so tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. And much to the band's dismay there is no space for a bouncy castle, but moshing will be compulsory for all attendees!
Food and bar snacks will be available on the night to accompany your beverage of choice.

If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
