Anticipating the release of the latest Bond movie, ‘No Time to Die’, pop culture commentator Travis Elborough joins us to explore the London life and loves of John Barry. Barry was the composer who has done as much as anyone else to establish the 007 brand and whose signature scores still inform the soundscape and themes of each new film - including the latest haunting title song by Billie Eilish.

But Barry was much more than Bond. Apart from the 11 scores for the franchise, in a career spanning more than 50 years, he penned many more award winning scores with a glamorous private life that Ian Fleming would have approved of with multiple marriages to beautiful women (including Jane Birkin), scandals, liaisons and a stint as one of the coolest figures in swing London as leader of the John Barry Seven.

Travis Elborough
Acclaimed by the Guardian as ‘one of the country’s finest pop culture historians’, Travis Elborough's career as an author, broadcaster and cultural commentator spans nearly two decades. He can be frequently found on BBC Radio 4 and Five Live. Elborough’s books include Wish You Were Here: England on Sea and The Long-player Goodbye, a hymn to vinyl records that inspired the BBC4 documentary When Albums Ruled the World.
