John Arne Riise was regarded as one of the most buccaneering left-sided players in Europe. Yet beneath the veneer of the famous and successful footballer, his ascent masked the huge challenges he had had to overcome on the way to the top: bullying, a broken home, uncertainty, loneliness. The bullies' favourite target at school, he overcame their taunts and grew up to become the hero of thousands of school children.
Riise has written a perceptive and opinionated autobiography. It chronicles a successful and colourful career on the frontline of modern football and provides an intriguing assessment of the game which has dominated his life. The result is a frank, incisive and emotional memoir, at times tinged with regret and soul-searching, at others suffused with joy such as his role in one of the most dramatic nights in football history, the 2005 Champions League Final or the ‘Miracle of Istanbul’.
“I am excited and nervous about the release of my book in England,” said John Arne.”Telling my story has been a journey into the past and though there are many happy memories, there some painful ones too. I hope that readers can relate to some of my experiences.”
John’s story is a heart-wrenching one, the way he got himself out of a hole, being bullied as a child and with an absent father, and how he climbed or ran all the way to success.

Golazio is a new bar on Camberwell Road which was born out of our unforgettable 90’s love affair with Football Italia serving Itlaian craft beer and huge slices of pizza.
Was it Nessun Dorma and the 1990 World Cup? Was it the way James Richardson transported us from our sofas to another world where players caressed the ball and even the refs had a bit of personality? Or was it Gazza, Signori or Lombardo? Whatever it was, Football Italia will always have a special place in the heart of fans across the globe and none more than our founder, Tim McTigue.
Tim had a dream, to combine his love for the 90’s Serie A league with a concept he’d experienced while traveling America in his 20s, pizza by the slice. 15 years and a lot of saving later, Tim packed up his job and Golazio was born.
At Golazio, we only use the freshest ingredients for our giant stone baked pizza slices, made by real Italians. What’s more, we make our delicious pizza available for everyone, with gluten free bases and vegetarian toppings too (and it’s not just a Margherita).
We are the only bar south of the river (and East of London) where you can get Italian craft beer (we stock over 12 different types). We show full classic Seria A games from the 90’s on our three big screens. We play Pavarotti in the loos, have vintage memorabilia everywhere, serve an inspired cocktail menu of Espresso Martini’s, Bellini’s, Negroni’s and Aperol Spritz all for a fiver, oh, and we have really nice people working here too.
So if you’re looking for a no frills kinda place that focuses on really good pizza and really good beer then come and say hello. Our doors are always open (unless we’re closed).
T&Cs
1. The ticket holder voluntarily assumes all risks and danger incidental to the event for which the ticket is issued, whether occurring prior, during or after the event. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
11. The promoter, venue management and DesignMyNight accept no responsibility for any personal property.
12. The event listed on the purchased ticket is strictly for ticket holders who are over 18 years of age. Identification may be required.
