Description
Art aficionados are invited for a special 'Adventures in Art' tour of Haymarket Hotel on 12th November, led by the Kit Kemp Design Studio's own Willow Kemp and India Dickinson. Discover Kit Kemp's personally curated art collection and find out how to collect and successfully hang art, making it fun and interesting within a living space.
Creative Director, Kit Kemp’s passion for art is present within the interior design of all Firmdale Hotels with established artists juxtaposed beside emerging ones. Artworks at Haymarket Hotel include Sir Tony Cragg’s fluid stainless steel sculpture, a striking monochrome painting by the artist, John Virtue and a 22-foot-long installation of tiny stones by Sue Lawty in the hotel's lobby. Downstairs in the impressive pool area there is a spectacular lighting scheme that uses strong contrasts of light and shadow and an ever-changing colourful light installation by Martin Richman.
Visitors will be guided through Kit’s personally chosen art collection, before journeying on an intimate walking tour to some of Mayfair and St James' most prestigious galleries.
The walk will end back at the hotel, where guests can enjoy a delicious three-course set menu lunch or afternoon tea in Brumus Bar & Restaurant.
£110 per person, including walking tour and afternoon tea or three-course lunch from a set menu.
Walks last approximately 2.5 hours followed by afternoon tea or set menu lunch. Each walking tour will operate with a maximum of 12 guests but a minimum number of 6 guests must book in order for the tour to go ahead. Please note that lunch and afternoon tea reservations are sat within your own booking groups. If you have any questions, please contact brumus@haymarkethotel.com and they will be happy to assist.
WILLOW KEMP
Willow received an MA in Architecture at St John's College, Cambridge before moving to Germany to study Sculpture at the Dusseldorf Kunstakademie under Director Tony Cragg, where she received a further Masters degree. An art ambassador for Firmdale Hotels and working in the design team at Kit Kemp Design Studio, Willow sources and acquires new pieces, curates art walks and hosts 'In Conversations' with artists. She is involved in creating new furniture, textiles, and product design for the hotels, residential and commercial projects.
INDIA DICKINSON
India Dickinson is a new addition to the Kit Kemp Design Studio with more than seven years experience working as an agent for artists. Having studied Visual Culture at Goldsmith’s before going on to take the highly respected course in Art Business at Sotheby’s, India established the India Dickinson Gallery in 2014, an unconventional forum for showing art that specialised in pop-up exhibitions, immersive installations, collaborations with established galleries and selling the work of a highly curated roster of emerging artists. In 2020, India established SEAM Agency as an alternative to the contemporary art gallery model, with the intention of helping artists to connect with potential collectors and allowing them to present their work in a way that more traditional forms of exhibiting did not allow.
