Canal Street is famous as THE place to find gay bars in Manchester – there are plenty to choose from, but one of the best is Club Tropicana, the street's original and celebrated gay men's venue that is open from 12 noon to late daily. Inside you'll find a modern classic bar and club with dark mood lighting and plenty of neon highlights. The bar crew are fantastic – friendly, cheeky, and more than willing to help you have a cracking evening, with beats, booze and belting characters that include both Canal Street regulars and students.
They dish out some great retro music, as well as some regular themed nights, from the Wednesday wonders along the likes of Score @ REM (scally, skinz & sportswear) or RetroREM (Hi NRG & camp classics) to their live entertainment programme every Sunday afternoon, including an outrageous comedy gameshow hosted by Ms Belinda Scandal from 4pm.
Belinda Scandal’s Showbar is the unique party venue for guys and girls located above Club Tropicana (available to hire for private functions) – and also look out for the attached all-new Rembrandt Hotel, which offers a comfortable, affordable place to stay in the heart of Canal Street.
