In case you haven’t heard of Treetop Adventure Golf… let us fill you in on the secret. Hidden within The Printworks, this fantastical space is bringing old-school fun to Manchester. Pizza and drinks with the novelty of crazy golf thrown in too? We headed down to see what all the fuss was about.
Full disclosure here: golf isn’t usually my thing, but the two eighteen-hole courses offered no end of fun - double bogeys and all. A fantasia for all ages; kids can get complimentary tattoos and their faces painted while adults reward themselves with a cocktail after a gruelling round of either the Tropical Trail or the Ancient Explorer. I really can’t fault the value for money; a round of golf will set you back just £9.50 each, or £31.50 for a family of four. There’s also another option to get even more bang for your buck: £15 each for 36 holes.
With clubs in hand, we opted for the curiously named Ancient Explorer course and quickly discovered that the venue’s motto “where temples crumble, ancient spirits stir and minigolf reigns” rang supremely true. Although our golfing skills were lacking, the atmosphere was not; with exotic sounds to accompany green foliage and trickling water around every corner. Very Lara Croft.
Embracing its dedication to the rainforest theme, we wined and dined in the Amazonian village bar and café. My guest sipped on a Monkey Mojito (£7.75), a muddled classic of rum, lime, sugar and mint, which was very gratefully received after an hour of action-packed driving action. Meanwhile, I stuck to my favoured Alma de Chile rosé (£6.75 for a large glass).
From the Pizza Cabana menu, we chose the pesto and feta (£6.50) and brie with red onion kam (£6.50) along with extra bacon (for an added £1) and yet again, we were amazed at the value. While not huge, they were the perfect size and topped with delicious ingredients. Just what we needed.
