Mary & Archie

Looking for a vibrant escape from the city? Head to Mary & Archie in Manchester's leafy Didsbury district. This hidden bar and restaurant packs a creative punch with locally produced art, home-cooked food and an extensive range of drinks.

Albert's Didsbury

Boasting a menu that blends British and international flavours, Albert's is the ultimate hangout spot for foodies and cocktail lovers alike. Head on down to sample their impressive selection of tipples and bites like the violet butterfly and monkfish thermidor while soaking up the plush surroundings.

Proove

If you're a pizza lover, you can't miss this stunning West Didsbury spot. Proove serves up delicious hand-stretched wood-fired pizza slow-proved for over 20 hours (talk about dedication). And the toppings? Fresh goodies like San Marzano D.O.P. tomatoes, Prosciutto San Daniele, and fior di latte mozzarella; you won't find better pies elsewhere.

Volta

Volta is one of the best restaurants in West Didsbury, from the same people behind the award-winning cafe bar Electrik in Chorlton. It's a stylish hangout with concrete walls making up one of its many raw features, a slate bar and retro bistro signage. The menu is whipped up by head chef Alex Shaw whose refined skills have seen him storm Michelin-star kitchens. Here you can expect small plates such as St James halloumi with courgette, puffed rice and a roasted chilli salsa, plus pan-friend Queenie scallops drizzled in chermoula butter to name a few.

FOLK

What was once an old gym is a palm tree paradise, quipped with neon rock 'n' roll signage and a thatched roof terrace, ideal for summer months. The chic, independently-owned FOLK can be found on Burton Road playing jazz, reggae and retro tunes regularly, and slinging out some delicious fare to pair with its good vibes. Swing by at any time of the day to indulge in a streaky bacon brioche butty for breakfast, or sensational small plates like miso courgettes, crispy Korean chicken or tater tots for lunch.

Hispi

Hispi is the award-winning, bright and beautiful bistro from Gary Usher, serving delicious, seasonal food. The interiors are homely and comforting, making the ideal backdrop for a relaxed lunch or hearty dinner. Visit anytime during the day throughout the week to feast on two courses for £29 or 3 for £36, featuring plates like crispy spiced carrot cakes to start, charred sea bass for mains and indulgent desserts such as sticky toffee pudding, or toasted coconut ice cream.

Saison

Saison can be found on Burton Road in West Didsbury, specialising in craft beer, delicious cocktails and all things wine. Its welcoming pastel green exterior invites you through into a warm dining space, complete with exposed brick walls and dainty, hanging light fixtures. You can feast on quality British cuisine here to go alongside your glass of red or IPA, such as slow-roasted belly pork with a smokey, glazed rib, plus Cornish squid, freshly fried in beer batter.
