Each week we catch up with one of Manchester's favourite bartenders to talk about the city's bars, pubs and clubs. After all, what better way to get an insight into a bar than from the person serving the drinks? This week we ask Andi Fenlon, manager at Lock 91 a few questions...
Find Andi at quirky Manchester bar Lock 91 every Tuesday to Saturday
Name: Andi Fenlon
Age: 32
Works at: Lock 91
You should come for drinks at Lock 91 because… we’re the closest you’ll get to a home from home environment. The distinctive cottage decor and relaxed but professional service is perfect for week night socials with friends, although in saying this we do turn it up a few notches at the weekend - especially upstairs in the club room. We’ve got most social aspects of going out covered - whether you're looking for a game of pool, darts, cocktails on the terrace, chilling with friends in the lounge... whatever you're looking for you’ll find it at some point in the month here at Lock 91.
I’ll whip you up a… Smokey Scarlett - one of our new cocktails that we created for Johnnie Walker. A complex drink that should be sipped to enjoy the many different levels of flavour, and like Lock 91 it's laid back and perfect for unwinding after a stressful day or week.
Mine’s a… shot of Patron XO Cafe and double Hendricks and tonic, simples!
When I’m off duty you’ll normally find me… at Revolucion De Cuba (Sundays only), shaking my maracas and shooting Patron Cafe.
The best thing about being a bartender is… I get to work in an exciting up and coming venue that’s different from the conventional bars I’ve worked at in the past. Plus meeting new people every day and hopefully passing on my enthusiasm for cocktails and the industry.
Not many people know this but… I can hang from feet on almost anything!
Come and see me… Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm ‘til late.
