Each week we catch up with one of Manchester's favourite bartenders to talk about the city's bars, pubs and clubs. After all, what better way to get an insight into a bar than from the person serving the drinks? This week we ask Gary Hall, bartender at GRILL on the ALLEY, a few questions...
Name: Gary Hall
Age: 24
Works at: the GRILL on the ALLEY
You should come for drinks at the GRILL on the ALLEY because… Although we are a restaurant; we have a great bar area with a live pianist every night. We also have a pretty good selection of guest beers, spirits and cocktails.
I’ll whip you up… an Espresso Martini (Rayka, Vodka, Illy liqueur, Espresso + sugar). It tastes great and you get that caffeine kick!
Mine’s a… Tommy’s Margarita! Made with Agave syrup. It’s softer than a Classic Margarita so very easy to drink!
When I’m off duty you’ll normally find me… after work, possibly at The Liquor Store. On a sunny day I’ll be in various beer gardens around the city or drinking coffee in Pop up Bikes.
The best thing about being a bartender is… serving new people every day and encouraging them to try something new, but also having regulars and just knowing how they like their drinks.
Not many people know this but… I played the trumpet for 8 years
Come and see me on… the weekend!
