Manchester is home to such a wonderfully
vibrant food scene, offering everything from sourdough pizzas to
indulgent Indian curries. There are just some days, however, when
you really crave a wholesome salad. Salad has come a long way since
the days of limp lettuce and soggy packed lunches. Instead of
boring combinations, there are now bowls upon bowls of protein,
vibrant veggies, unusual superfoods, and delicious dressings.
Whether you prefer the classic Caesar or something more adventurous
like a Buddha bowl or Vietnamese papaya salad, there are plenty of
places in Manchester for salad where you can get
your fix.
Manchester's best places for salad
Evelyn’s
- Cafe, Bar, Plant-based
- 44 Tib St, Manchester M4 1LA, UK
Northern Quarter cafe, Evelyn’s offers a fresh and healthy
take on dining out, with strong plant-based options and a focus on
clean eating. Salads take pride of place on the menu, with
everything from a nourishing House Salad (featuring braised tofu,
green beans, red cabbage, soft boiled eggs, cucumber, mint, lime
and a peanut chilli dressing) and tuna-packed poke bowls and a
crowd-favourite chicken Caeser salad, served in big bowls that will
keep you full all day long. The leafy venue takes inspiration from
Asia and the Middle East for a lot of its dishes, with the likes of
za'atar lamb chops and teriyaki oyster mushrooms available too. To
complement the clean-eating vibe, Evelyn’s also offers in-house
cold-pressed juices, coffees and matcha lattes alongside cocktails
and other alcoholic drinks.

The Laundrette
- Burger, Pizza, Vegan / Vegetarian Friendly
- 32 Beech Road, Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom,
M21 9EL
Nestled in the heart of Chorlton, The Laundrette is a quirky
bar and restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and a menu that
mirrors the steps in the laundry cycle. While a food offering that
revolves around cocktails and carbs might not be your first port of
call for a healthy plate of veggies, there’s a section – Easy Care
– dedicated to fresh salads, which can be enjoyed on the
south-facing sun terrace. Choose from a classic Caesar or the more
adventurous Crunchy Thai Veg Salad, or there’s even a goats cheese
and pear salad for those who fancy something extra vibrant. Pair it
with a unique cocktail such as the Bubble Bath, which is complete
with white chocolate foam and served in a plastic bathtub.

HOME
- British, Cafe, Brunch
- 2 Tony Wilson Place, First St, Manchester, United Kingdom, M15
4FN
The independent darling of Manchester’s cultural scene, HOME
is an independent cinema, theatre, art gallery, bar and restaurant
located on First Street. On the light and airy first floor, the
main restaurant is an institution in its own right. If you fancy
something a bit lighter for your pre-theatre dinner, there’s a
selection of salads bowls, taking inspiration from around the
globe. Whether you go for the North African Buddha Bowl, the
Superfood Salad or the Avocado Super Poke, all can be spruced up
with an added protein of your choice - think teriyaki salmon,
grilled haloumi chargrilled steak and more.
