There are a few things that spring to mind when thinking about Big Mamma's restaurants - and Circolo Popolare London's wisteria-filled, Sicilian trattoria ceilings stick out from the crowd. Luckily for us, the team have revealed that their much-anticipated Manchester location will be a Circolo Popolare, following the recent opening of La Bellezza in Birmingham.
Where Is The New Circolo Popolare?
- Address: No. 1 St Michael’s, Jackson's Row, Manchester
The Parisian restaurant group has chosen Manchester for this new venture, setting their sights on Gary Neville's St Michael's development alongside Japanese-Peruvian hotspot Chotto Matte. Big Mamma co-founder Victor Lugger has had his eye on Manchester as a "second city" since 2023, following in the footsteps of brands like The Treehouse Hotel and Flat Iron - all of which have either recently made, or are in the process of making, our streets their next home.
When Is Circolo Popolare Manchester Opening?
- Opening date: TBC June 2025
The 230 cover space will open in June, with a similar look to the London location and bags of its own personality too, inspired by Sardinian trattorias. Think familiar bottle-lined walls, alongside festoon lighting strung across a eucalyptus-filled ceiling and a courtyard-inspired floor scattered with antiques and even a wishing well.
What Will The Circolo Popolare Manchester Menu Be?
Meanwhile, you can keep dreaming of the Italian food they'll have in store. Big Mamma co-founder Tigrane Seydoux has indicated that the menu "will not be copying London", hinting that it may take a direction similar to Circolo Popolare Madrid's grilled meat and fish skewers - something that's yet to feature on a Circolo Popolare menu in the UK. Although, we're still hoping they emulate their signature cheese wheel pastas and huge wedges of lemon meringue pie.
