Crazy Pedro's, the self-styled Part Time Pizza Parlour on Bridge Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter, have become synonymous with wacky, unconventional pizza toppings. But the bar may have taken the crazy cake with their festive special, which pairs pigs in blankets with Christmas cake.
The venue relies a lot on people just hearing them out before tasting their weird pizza concoctions. They became famous for such offerings as 'Back to School', which sprinkled turkey dinosaurs among potato smileys and spaghetti hoops. Or maybe 'Dreggs' that placed sausage rolls, baked beans and brown sauce all on the same bread. Their festive treat, however, might be the most bizarre flavour pairings to date. Called 'Let It Dough, Let It Dough, Let It Dough', the pizza holds cheddar cheese, fig, pear, pigs in blankets, parsley, cranberry, balsamic glaze and Christmas cake. Christmas cake!
Only time (and reviews) will tell if that crazy mix will strike gold like their last pizza-based inventions, but maybe we should treat ourselves to a bit more adventurous to 2016.
Crazy Pedro's Part Time Pizza Parlour is found on 19A Bridge Street, Manchester. 'Let It Dough' will be served until the end of the festive season.
