Believe it or not, Scottish purveyors of craft beer, BrewDog, only have a single rooftop bar in the whole of England. Can you guess the lucky city? Manchester, of course. Adding to their Oxford Road Outpost and Peter Street bar, DogHouse Manchester is their third location in our city and found on Fountain Street - just a stone's throw from Market Street's main shopping areas and the swanky King Street to Spring Gardens stretch.
BrewDog's Manchester hotel is one of two hotels from the brand, with the other in Edinburgh; their only UK venues with a sky-high terrace space ready and waiting for outdoor sipping. You might've already heard a little bit more about DogHouse when we headed over to review the rooms, beer tasting experience and food last year (trust us, it's all exceptional), but their rooftop specifically is also one of Manchester's best-kept secrets.
Thanks to its own little bar and kitchen, retractable awning for when some classic northern showers strike, festoon lighting, and a good smattering of plants, the rooftop is ideal for casual drinks. Pair these with blackened Cajun cod or chipotle-black pepper crispy corn tacos and some of the best bar nachos we've had in a long time? You're onto a winner.
You could be washing Mexican-inspired fare down with a fruity and unfiltered New England IPA, Hazy Jane, or the classic Lost lager in no time. And don't forget to play giant Jenga either.
