The weather may be dragging its heels this year, but the team behind the Kahlúa Coffee House have decided to take matters into their own hands and will be turning up the heat this May Bank Holiday weekend by hosting a colourful 'Fiesta del Fuego' in the Northern Quarter.
Six of Manchester's best bars will compete against eachother at the Fiesta del Fuego
Championing all things chilli, this Mexican street carnival will take over High Street on Saturday May 25th and will see six of Manchester's best bars, restaurants and cafes pit their finest chilli creations against each other in a head-to-head cook off, in a bid to be crowed 'Fuego Champions'.
There'll also be a Chilli Eating Competition, where brave/stupid souls will be invited to push their tastebuds to the limit by eating increasingly hot fresh chillis until only one victor remains.
Other chilli related activities will include a giant chilli Pinata, a 'Moruga Roulette' wheel with the chance to win cocktails and tacos, and live music provided by a Mariachi band - along with other live sets from local Manchester favourites.
Attendance is free, although £10 will get you a ticket that allows you to try all six competing chillis, as well as a free cocktail from Kahlúa Coffee House.
It all kicks off at high-noon on Saturday 25th May. So gather round mad dogs, Englishmen and chilli fiends, and get ready for a sizzling Bank Holiday weekend in Manchester, no matter the weather.
