The Trof Trophy Charity Football Tournament

The Trof Trophy kicks off on Sunday 1st September

Sunday the 1st September is the day that several of our favourite things here at DesignMyNight will join hand in hand for the people of Manchester to enjoy. The promoters from Hey! Manchester had a brainwave to help well known and important charity Lifeline raise some cash for their great cause. It's quite simple really; a selection of Manchester music folk from across the city will meet head to head (or should we say foot to foot) in a footballing tournament extravaganza at the Ardwick Power League, followed by them doing what they do best; throwing an amazing after party with DJs, quizzes, competitions, booze and the musical masters of Manchester to chat to. Sounds like a pretty sweet Sunday to us.

The five-a-side tournament will be entered by some of the most influential and important members of the Manchester music scene, giving them chance to get stuck into each others' ankles, smash in some screamers and chant (perfectly in tune of course) their favourite songs from the terraces at one another for four hours. Bands, artists and promoters set to take part include Dutch UnclesThe Travelling BandHoya HoyaBand on the WallSound ControlStop Making SenseCommonEar to the Ground and many more.

The tournament, aside form to stroke some egos and distribute bragging rights is all in the name of charity, and an important one at that. Lifeline is a Manchester based charity that helps people to deal with addiction to drugs and alcohol. The mission statement gives the perfect insight into what they do, ‘We work with individuals, families and communities both to prevent and reduce harm, to promote recovery, and to challenge the inequalities linked to alcohol and drug misuse.'  A very just and challenging cause to support, and one that is often misunderstood by many, which is why the tournament hopes to raise money and awareness in Manchester.

Once the tournament is all said and done and the horse play in the showers is a distant and curious memory, it's off to The Deaf Institute to start the after party proceedings. Kicking off from 4pm until late, The Trof Tournament organisers have a huge line up planned, with DJs gracing the decks, Dutch Uncles taking up a well earned role as quiz masters and a whole line up of entertainment, prizes and after-match boozing for everyone! It's free entry,  because they know the generous folk of Manchester will be willing as ever to dig deep and dip into their party funds for this amazing cause.

Make sure you keep this amazing Sunday free to watch the footy, listen to top DJs, win some prizes and talk tunes with the Manchester music scene! A perfect Sunday if we ever saw one.
