What they say:
It’s safe to say El Gato Negro has won every tapas-loving Mancunian’s heart. Which is good news, because the Spanish restaurant is about to get a sister restaurant hailing from the other part of the Iberian peninsula: Canto, a Portuguese restaurant in Ancoats. Details are thin on the ground at the moment, but we know it’s run by the dream team of Simon Shaw and Portuguese-born, Michelin star-trained Carlos Gomes.
What we say:
The menu takes inspiration from Shaw’s experience in Lisbon, riding on the burgeoning wave of Portuguese food in this country. They hope to promote social dining with a relaxed and casual neighbourhood setting while still delivering on a delicious menu of authentic Portuguese food with a modern twist.
