Description
Cathedral Gates by The Printworks in Manchester city centre is home to a cluster of decent bars and pubs - including The Mitre! Boasting gorgeous Georgian architecture and a plush interior (think chandeliers and purple velvet, fireplaces and fish tanks), this boutique pub is attached to a hotel of the same name, and so sees a healthy combination of regulars, post-work drinkers and visitors to the city. It’s also popular with shoppers looking to put their feet up after touring round the likes of Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and high street favourites, all of which are just around the corner.
The beer and wine selections at The Mitre are nothing to write home about - but having said that, the bar prices are very reasonable for such a central location (Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 5-7pm). In fact the Mitre, along with the nearby Old Wellington and Sinclair’s Oyster Bar could be in their own little bubble, situated as they are on their own little square!
In terms of food, The Mitre serves gastro pub classics, sandwiches and afternoon tea, and the hotel itself is also home to 30 bedrooms and the beautiful Cathedral suite is even licensed for civil ceremonies!
